BLOCKHEADS

It’s the start of the pandemic and I have a box of pink painted wooden blocks from an old animation project. I also have a jar of teeth and I know there won’t be a lot of commercial shooting in the next few months so this is my time. I get busy at the kitchen table and create these blockheads.

Most of them found a good home. Marionet even made it onto an album cover which sub-sequentially lead to finding the perfect soundtrack for our short film Monster.

SVANK

15 x 10 x 8 cm.
Reclaimed wood, nails and teeth.

Svank was named after the great Jan Švankmajer. If you don’t him know you should google him, trust me on this one.

SIDE JAW

17 x 17 x 9 cm.
Wood, teeth, fabric, vacuum tube.

MARIONET

14 x 12 x 11 cm.
Wood, teeth, buttons.

I made some fancy hinges so the eyes could move. Unnecessary but cool.

SALOMÉ

22 x 18 x 10 cm.
Reclaimed wood, rusty nails, polymer clay.

WHY THE LONG FACE

25 x 16 x 13 cm.

Wood, acrylic teeth, bottle caps.

MINI FACES

approx. 10 x 5 x 5 cm.

Mixed media.
